WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – A shindig worthy of the Old West drew a sellout crowd of more than 300 to the National Croquet Center for KidSanctuary’s Second Annual Haute Hoedown.

Chaired by Michelle Boren, Stephanie Kantis and Frances Leidy-Mackay, guests at the hoedown were treated to a mechanical bull, carnival games, a whiskey poker room and live music from The Tom Jackson Band.

The group’s goal is to build four homes and an enrichment center for abused, abandoned and neglected children. Proceeds from the 2014 celebration will help support the second home – Dodero Cottage – and begin the enrichment center.

The evening honored Design Chair Joe Fava, of Fava Design Group, and the 14 designers who volunteered their services for the new cottage, which is expected to officially become home to six foster girls early this summer.

Among those attending the hoedown were Celebrity Design Chair Thom Filicia, from the TV show “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy,” who assisted with the live auction of a nearly flawless yellow diamond donated by Diamante Atelier. Dr. Mehmet Oz, advisory board trustee of KidSanctuary Campus, delivered a video message.

Kantis, an award-winning jewelry designer, said she agreed to co-chair the event after meeting the girls who live in the first home.

“We wanted to create an event where our guests could enjoy an evening that was reminiscent of a true western hoedown, but also let them know the benefits KidSanctuary is bringing to the foster children in our community. I think we accomplished both.”

Design teams for the Dodero Cottage were A. Keith Powell Interior Design, Aldo Puschendorf Interiors, Angela Reynolds Design, Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, B & G Design Group, Britto Charette Design, Deborah Wecselman Designs, Fava Design Group, Furze-Bard & Associates, Mendez International, Pepe Calderin Design, Sam Robin Interior Design, Stephen Mooney Interiors, Superior Designer Services, the William Bernard Design Group and Onshore Construction.
