PALM BEACH, Fla. – Amb. Stuart Bernstein and Wilma Bernstein were honored and Broadway actress Morgan James entertained during the 11th annual Palm Beach Scopus Award Gala.

Nearly 250 supporters gathered at The Breakers for the evening, presented by the American Friends of the Hebrew University.

The Bernsteins, residents of Palm Beach and Washington, D.C., were presented with the 2014 Scopus Award, the second time they received the award.

Roberta and Stanley Bogen, Suellen and Melvyn Estrin, Barbara and Richard Rothschild, Judy and Robert Snyder and Robbi and Bruce Toll chaired the gala.

Other guests included Michelle and Joseph Jacobs, Reva and Harvey Grace, Lois and Martin Zelman, Marjorie and Robert Emden, Lori and Bruce Gendelman, Ellen Klerseld and Sheldon Hechtman, Daniel Schlessinger and Carmi Gillon.

The award is named for Mount Scopus in Jerusalem, the historical site of the university, and recognizes extraordinary support from American residents to The Hebrew University.

The 2014 gala, held Jan. 18, 2014, raised funds for The Edmond and Lily Safra Center for Brain Sciences (ELSC) at The Hebrew University.

Today the University has a student body of 23,000, a faculty of 970 and attracts students from Israel as well as from 70 countries around the world.
