“Having Joyce DiDonato come to Palm Beach Opera has been a dream of ours for several seasons,” General Director Daniel Biaggi said. “I can’t imagine a more accomplished and refined vocal artist, who embodies the glamorous aspects of life in opera, is a great entertainer yet at the same time wonderfully ‘down to earth’ and just pure fun to be around. This was a night to remember.”

Guests were greeted by Cartier Pages and enjoyed a pre-performance reception with champagne supplied by Cartier. Following the reception, DiDonato performed, accompanied by pianist David Zobel.

Afterward, DiDonato joined guests for cocktails, followed by a three-course dinner in Mar-a-Lago’s Grand Ballroom, which was filled with a display of red roses.

DiDonato, a lyric-coloratura mezzo, was heralded by the New York Times as “an effortless combination of glamour, charisma, intelligence, grace and remarkable talent. Ms. DiDonato is simply magnificent, singing with plush richness and aching beauty.” The New Yorker called her “the most potent female singer of her generation.”

The Kansas-born performer won the 2012 Grammy Award for Best Classical Vocal Solo.

Palm Beach Opera Vice-Chairman Sanford Fisher and his wife, Isanne, led the Gala Council. TRH Prince Michel De Bourbon-Parme and Princess Maria Pia Di Savoia-De Bourbon were honorary international chairs. Melania and Donald Trump were honorary host chairs.
