PALM BEACH, Fla. – Just a day after the Masters, legendary golf instructor Peter Kostis and pro Ian Baker-Finch were in Palm Beach and gave an inside perspective of the famed tournament to more than 100 members of the American Cancer Society’s 19th Hole Club.

Kostis and Baker-Finch, who both served as analysts of the tournament for CBS Sports, also regaled fans with stories of their long careers in golf and offered a few putting tips and personal instruction for the guests.

They gathered for the 46th annual event at The Breaker’s Ocean Golf Course practice green.

Kostis, a colon cancer survivor, stressed how important “early detection, through regular screenings, is to saving lives,” and credits his wife for persuading him to get his screening earlier than scheduled.

“The most important thing people 50 years or older can do is get tested,” he said.

The program, presented by the Addison Hines Charitable Trust, also included two putting contests, passed hors d’oeuvres, food stations, a silent auction and a chance drawing for prizes.

After the contests, guests moved to the clubhouse veranda for the presentation of the Homer H. Marshman Outstanding Community Award to Dr. Elizabeth Bowden.

She was recognized for her continued support of the American Cancer Society and more than 14 years of service on its Island of Palm Beach Board of Trustees, as well as her many other philanthropic efforts.
