PALM BEACH, FL – Funnyman Jay Leno entertained more than 380 supporters of the University of Miami’s Department of Neurology.

UM President Donna Shalala (pictured below) and Dean Pascal Goldschmidt, along with event chairs Janet and Mark Levy and Cindy and Tom Feltenstein, were part of the crowd celebrating the department’s 50th anniversary.

For Janet Levy, her support is personal.

Ralph Sacco, Donna ShalalaLevy suffered a stroke in 2002, and reached out to Dr. Ralph Sacco (pictured left), who was then at Columbia Presbyterian in New York. When she moved to Palm Beach, she found out Sacco had relocated nearby and was serving as chairman of the Department of Neurology at UM’s Miami Miller School of Medicine.

“Tonight is about celebrating the department’s history, having fun but also getting the word out that such wonderful doctors are in our backyard,” Levy said.

The gala, “Solving the Neurological Puzzle,” was held Feb. 25, 2012, at The Breakers.
