‘Old Bags’ Luncheon Raises $500,000
PALM BEACH, Fla. – A sold-out crowd of more than 500 supporters turned out for The Center for Family Services’ 16th annual “Old Bags” luncheon at The Breakers.
Actor and comedian Darrell Hammond was the guest speaker, while Steve Weagal, WPTV’s chief meteorologist, emceed the benefit, which raised almost $500,000.
More than 350 designer handbags and jewelry were featured in the silent auction.
The luncheon is the signature fundraising event for The Center for Family Services, which assists children and families who suffer from domestic violence, sexual abuse or homelessness.
Linda Adelson, Lorrain Hall and Soula Rifkin chaired the luncheon. Joan Klann and Kitty Silverstein were honorary chairs, and Judi Richards was advisory chair.

Major sponsors were Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus, the jewelry sponsor was Kaufmann de Suisse, the corporate sponsor was PNC Bank and the media sponsor was Palm Beach Illustrated for the Feb. 27, 2014, event.
