Celebs Turn Out for Caron Gala Pre-event in NYC

Sid Goodman, Russell Simmons and Kelly Bensimon attend Caron program in New York City.

NEW YORK, NY – Celebrities, tastemakers and philanthropists gathered at Capitale in New York City recently to celebrate the third annual Save A Life charity benefit, a kickoff event for the seventh annual Caron Gala 2012 in Palm Beach.

Pre-event co-chairs Jacquelyn Sherry Coombe and Denise Vasi were joined by event hosts Kelly Bensimon and Russell Simmons to welcome Florida gala chairman, Petra Levin and Caron Renaissance executive director, Sid Goodman, for the New York evening.

The annual Caron Gala and all pre-events raise critical funds for the Lifesaver Scholarship Fund at Caron, offering scholarships for well-deserving patients and their families seeking addiction treatment they otherwise could not afford. Save a Life generated $250,000 for this fund.

Among those attending the New York event were Eliza Dushku, Chloe Flower, Noah Tepperberg, Allie Rizzo, Avi Oster, Tinamarie Clark, Scott Sartiano, Richie Akiva, Nicholas Forker, Scott Conant and a throng of gorgeous Wilhelmina models.

Famed actor, author, and advocate, Christopher Kennedy Lawford, addressed the crowd with an inspirational speech about his battle with drug and alcohol addiction for much of his young life. A silent auction and an uplifting performance by global band Papagayo capped off the evening’s festivities.

“It was a great preview of our exciting 2012 event,” said Levin.

The Palm Beach gala will be held on Feb. 25, 2012, at The Mar-a-Lago Club. For more information about the Caron Gala, call the Caron event line at (561) 655-7770, e-mail or visit http://www.caronrenaissance.org/gala.

The Caron Treatment Centers is a national network of non-profit drug and alcohol treatment centers offering residential treatment and outpatient programs for adults and adolescents, as well as families affected by addiction.
